Jonathan "Stylish" Stanger's PostMortem

Hello! It's me, the producer!?

My role (in my opinion) can be boiled down into being a secondary brain for the team.  Wether it was helping out on specific tasks or helping th team communicate or just managing the Kanban board, I did it.

The amount of hours I worked was around 40 hours but it only felt like 3 hours. While there were a few points I regretted taking on the role of producer, it was massively outweighed by my love and willingness to do it. As a Collaborative Design student I found that this was a good opportunity to figure out what producing felt like and my approach, which felt amazing.

The first hurdle was communication. When we as a team had talked at the beginning of what our concerns were, communication was the big one. So, I put in 1 on 1's, group chats, DMs, I tried to communicate and encourage communication as much as possible without badgering people.

Second hurdle was the idea. The first idea we had was fantastic in my opinion. Then due to circumstances I had to miss a meeting and the whole idea changed. Then when we had the next meeting it had changed AGAIN. In the end this was a minor hurdle but definently hurt the team in the long run I think.

I learned from this, I love producing. Normally things feel like they take hours and hours and absolute drain me. This felt like a task that I did without knowing I did it and then it was done. I loved it.

I'm proud of the team for trusting me to do what I do. This role was randomly introduced, not really explained or taught in the studios extensively, and when it came to the vote a bunch of people who didn't know me wanted me to produce it. And in the end they trusted me to do what I did.
